Important Information About Award Rate Increases

As previously advised the Fair Work Commission has determined to increase all award rates of pay by 3.75% from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July, 2024.

This means that if you have a pay period that spans over 1 July, 2024 that pay period will be at the existing rates and the new rates will not begin until the next pay period that commences after 1 July, 2024.

It is important to note that the award increase can be absorbed against any over-award payment you are currently paying, but the rate you pay your employees must always be at least the relevant minimum award rate.

Also, if you are paying an annualised salary you will need to check that the salary you pay will meet the new minimum award requirements.

You will note on the wages schedules that the superannuation contribution rate will increase to 11.5% for any wages or salaries paid on or after 1 July, whether the rate paid is at the old level or not.
